Battery-powered radar sensing system deployed across Cambridge to monitor directional bicycle traffic.
A network of battery-powered radar sensors deployed across Cambridge, MA to passively monitor bicycle traffic flow and directionality. Each node is a compact multi-board PCB stack transmitting telemetry wirelessly to a central dashboard.
Each sensor node uses radar-based detection to count and classify bicycle passes by direction. Firmware on the embedded MCU aggregates readings and transmits via wireless uplink to a cloud ingestion API. A live map dashboard visualizes node status and historical traffic data.
OTA update support ensures deployed nodes can receive firmware patches without physical access — critical for a city-scale deployment.
